The first exmples of a total of 20 locos of the 1010 class were delivered in 1955 to the öBB (Austrian Railways) by the firm of Simmering-Graz-Pauker (SGP). The 6-axled locos weighed 110 tons, developed 5.400 horsepower and were used on various routes with a top speed of 130 km/h. The 1020 finished their career in high speed service on the Arlberg line. In the middle of the 1960's, several locos were stationed in Salzburg and their train hauling duties saw them travel over the DB network as far as Munich and Frankfurt.
